How we empower our team to return to work after extended leave

We're proud to empower our employees to take leave and return on terms that suit their needs.

We recently welcomed Sarah Ponte back into her role as Digital Media Director following six months of maternity leave. Sarah had been leading and expanding our digital media offering when she became pregnant with her second child.

"We were thrilled for Sarah and wanted her to enjoy this incredible time with her family. But as a highly valued member of our team, we were equally invested in her return," explains our Managing Director Domenic Brasacchio. "Whatever her return would look like, we knew flexibility and ongoing communication would be key."

To help Sarah stay connected, we organised 'Keeping in Touch' days during the latter half of her leave. On these days, Sarah met with the team to stay updated. "While I didn’t have the urge to work, I wanted to check in and ensure everything was going well. I always looked forward to the next ‘Keeping in Touch’ day," Sarah recalls.

Sarah has now transitioned back to primarily working from home on reduced hours. This arrangement allows her to reintegrate into work life while prioritising her young family. "Flexible work not only made it easier for me to return but also made it possible. If I didn't have the option to work from home or reduce my hours, I wouldn't have been able to return to work at this point," Sarah explains. "It’s worked out. It’s the dream scenario."
